Bessonett Family History copy #2 c. 1867 by John Bessonett, Jr.
Bessonett Family History Copy #1 c. 1867 by John Bessonett, Jr.

We believe that in the 1860s John Bessonett, Jr. prepared an outline of the early family in this country. There is a letter that mentions in France the existence of a family estate available to Bessonett descendents, and this outline may have been prepared to show the lineage for legally claiming that estate. Copies of that outline were sent to family members, and in this posting you will see two of the copies.

On the copy to the right, note the reference to Switzerland. This implies that the family was in Switzerland at some point in time. In a letter, John Bessonett, Jr. mentions that he has the original family bible which was printed in Switzerland in the 1600s, but that there was no information about the family written in that bible. The whereabouts of that bible are unknown.

The original of the copy on the left is in the possession of George Ralph Bessonette of Mississippi, and the original of the copy on the right is in the possission of Ruth Furnald of Pennsylvania.
