The Bessonett family originally settled in Pensylvania. Charles Bessonett is suposed to be the first Bessonett in this country. I've been unable to trace him back to Europe. The family seems to have originated in the Dauphny region of France.
The original spelling of the name was: Besonet (At least that's the way John Besonet, Sr. signed his name to a letter.)
The family was settled in Bristol Borough which is a short distance north of Philadelphia.
